Indiana Democrat African American Caucus

Indianapolis Chapter

The Indiana Democrat African American Caucus (IDAAC)

was founded over 25 years ago by Indiana's black legislative caucus members.

IDAAC has been tasked with getting more African American's involved in the political process through volunterism and elections at the local, state and federal offices. IDAAC was created to enhance Democrat Party inclusion of African Americans in planning and decision making, for the election and appointment of African Americans to public office, to party positions, and to promote active participation of African Americans.

IDAAC has been tasked with two missions:

1. Help more African American’s get engaged in the political process

2. Help more African American’s get elected to political office

What We Do

We accomplish this by registering voters, knocking on doors for candidates, walking in parades, staffing polling locations, delivering training and mentorship opportunities to new candidates, and advocating for the expansion of voting rights in our state.

As an organization, IDAAC has chapters across Indiana. The Indianapolis chapter serves all of central Indiana, and is the largest chapter in the state. Our regular meeting is on the 2nd Saturday of each month at 11 a.m., at the Julia Carson Government Center. Please join us!
